Conversations That Help Young Men Build Before Life Tests Them.
A young man needs more than advice after he makes a mistake. He needs language, structure, faith, discipline, and a man willing to walk with him before pressure names him.
Most Fathers Want the Conversation. Few Know Where to Start.
Many fathers want deeper conversations with their sons but do not know where to start. Many sons need direction but do not know how to ask. This guide gives fathers, mentors, and young men a shared framework for talking about identity, discipline, responsibility, faith, self-control, and leadership.
Six Conversations Every Father Should Have
One conversation per move. Each has a main question, follow-ups, and one action step for the week.
Center
What is currently first in your life, and how can you tell?
- What gets your best attention?
- When do you usually pray?
- What pulls you away from God the fastest?
Start one day this week with prayer before your phone.
Surrender
What are you trying to control that may need to be surrendered?
- What makes you anxious?
- Where do you resist correction?
- What do you want God to bless but not change?
Name one area where obedience matters more than control.
Define
Who are you before success, failure, popularity, or pressure?
- What label has affected you the most?
- Where do you feel pressure to prove yourself?
- What does God say about who you are?
Write one sentence that begins: “God says I am…”
Govern
What has the most control over your attention right now?
- Is your phone helping you or training you?
- What emotion is hardest for you to control?
- What habit do you need to strengthen?
Set one phone boundary for seven days.
Build
What responsibility are you ready to start taking seriously?
- What do you keep putting off?
- What skill do you need to build?
- What does consistency look like this week?
Finish one thing you have been delaying.
Lead
Who is watching your example?
- How do your choices affect others?
- What kind of man do you want younger people to see?
- What does leadership look like before you have a title?
Do one responsible thing this week without being asked.
How to Use This Guide
The goal is not a perfect script. It is a consistent, honest conversation between a man and a young man he is building.
- 01Use one conversation per week
- 02Do not lecture
- 03Listen first
- 04Answer the questions too
- 05Pray together if appropriate
- 06End with one action step
- 07Follow up the next week
